Only small ammounts of up to 1,5cm are within the tolerance of the human body, everything more than that will lead to balleriana sooner or later, depending on how flexible your tendons are.
Could you reach the floor with the plams of your hands before the surgerie? If not, you were probably not very flexible to begin with.
Doing excercises while lengthining can help you to maintain your flexibility a little bit longer.
The best thing you can do is what onemorefoot already said: walk.
You should try to walk anyway in order to fight muscle atrophy if your frames are weight-bearing and your doctor allowes you to.

Are you out of your mind?? What a stupid comment. You cant walk unless the frames are weight bearing or you are in late stage of lengthening. To avoid complication wait until late stage or consolidation state. First and foremost Doctor should be consulted. Read some books about bone physiology.

Most of the Ilizarov fixators are full weight bearing, unilateral are a different story, I dont see why I am out of my mind, you can read Many diaries of people And some were walking in the third day after the surgery ( third world countries are a different story with Ilizarov fixators), that is in fact the advantage of external fixation over common Internal fixation, walking is the best way to avoid of fixing ballerina. There are doctors Who dont like that patients walk, becuase callus can be compressed, And lose height.
I think it is proper
