If it is possible, try to get someone to accompany you at least the first week of surgery before you become slightly more mobile to function and lengthen yourself. There is no shame in letting others know, make sure the person is trustworthy. Your health and safety is at sake in a foreign land, whatsmore temporary crippled by LL. You need all the help you can get. If the friend/relative is gossipy and turns on you socially after the surgery, break contact, what matters is you get your height. After several years, nobody really bothers remembering whether you did LL.
