I’m honestly not sure where his reputation as a “short” leading man came from. Most action stars are in the 5’8-6’0 range, so Cruise is hardly noticeably short.

Height discrimination exists because of masculinity, because sexual dimorphism is biological reality. In other words, height discrimination—like other types of discrimination—exist because of unalterable reality.

There is a weak correlation between height and strength, but that's because taller men tend to have more lean mass than shorter men.
