Hey guys,
I was wondering what the rules are for people who smoked weed/nicotine casually before the surgery. You obviously have to be clean before the operation and cant smoke during the extraction itself as that messes with bone growth. but what are the rules for someone who smoked weed before the surgery? How long should they come off weed before going into surgery? Are they more likely to get a non union regardless of if they quit? Is smoking of any kind doable after your fully recovered from the surgery and consolidated? Any info on this topic would be appreciated.
Someone correct me if am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that according to the most experienced surgeon in the world Paley, 4 of his patients who got a fat embolism and was close to dying all were smokers. Either way both is bad for your health, so if you want the best life experience, most energy and not die young, you should quit...

Yup, Paley will not take patients that smoke or even vape. I believe he makes them go smoke-free for a minimum of 1 or 3 months, I forget exactly which but he mentioned it in one of his interviews.
OP, you should stop smoking for your own health anyways, regardless of getting LL or not. While being taller will improve your attractiveness and respect received, smoking will not.

Thanks for the reply, ive completely cut out weed and havent smoked in around 2 weeks. Basically all my friends smoke so obviously the habit just picked up through hanging out with them. if i went completely clean for atleast half a year before the procedure do you think id still be at risk of developing some bone growth problems?

Unlikely, but you should ask your surgeon this. I am not a Doctor so I can't say.
the big thing is nicotine smoking will seriously affect bone healing via vasoconstriction
so obviously any and all nicotine consumtion should be ceased for a month before and up to 2 months post nail removal. (ideally you use this time to quit smoking)
as for thc i would avoid smoking as well simply due to irritaiton of lung tissues from inhaling smoke
edibles might be an option. ive read some articles talking about cbd helping with bone

Thanks for the reply, i actually dont use nicotine. Ive still never even tried a cigarette before. And i never vape unless i drink which is once in a while. Its really the marijuana that im getting off of rn and ive easily been able to quit it. Hopefully when i go see my dr and ask some questions about this ill be in the clear
just to correct you, those who nearly died were vapers, he stated that in an interw with cyborg
Idk if smoking makes a difference, but me and a bunch of the guys on here who got CLL around the same time as me ate lots of edibles while lengthening
. It helped a lot with both sleep and pain.

I was actually thinking about using edibles during the extraction but wasnt sure if thats something they allow. Definitely alot more clean then spamming down pain meds thats for sure.
