I am hoping to get this surgery done in the near-future, but I do have my worries. I want to regain my athletic ability, and also want no long-term complications. So by the time I can afford the surgery, the Precice 3 may be out. But when do you guys the Precice 3 will become available?

I really hope in the future there is technology that minimizes the reduction of Athletic Ability, they have to invent an apparatus that doesn't mess with the biomechanics.

I don't see where major improvements of the IM nails can be made other than maybe increasing the strenght, decrease risk of bending and making it thinner etc. There will always exist a surgical risk.

Combining the surgical risk with the lenghtning of nerves, muscles and bone and the change of biomechanics of longer limbs this procedure will obviously have an impact on athletic abillity.
