This should be the most convincing reason for doing femurs over tibias. You don't want to risk a higher chance of arthiritis or other issues. I did 2.7 inches on my femur. The proportions don't really look that odd at all. I met tons of people after I started walking again. The only person who noticed was someone who knew I had LL (Dr. Parihar's friend).

Furthermore, Dr. Paley limits tibia lengthening to 6 cm. Other doctors may let you lengthen more, but I think 6 cm might be the limit for which you can recover your prior functionality. It will be much easier for you to do 7.5 cms on the tibias.

Do you feel much taller after 2.7 inches? How noticeable is it to you compared to before? Compared to what you thought pre-op?

I feel taller yes, but I'm also used to it now. Before when I went out, I used to be one of the shortest people around. Now I'm 5'9". While thats below average, you can't really tell the difference between that and 6'. As far as if its noticeable, people who interacted with me daily noticed. People I met after several years just said that I looked skinnier/better (LOL). Most people were like WTF did you lose a lot of weight or something?
