I'm an Australian, and I've been trying to see if we have any Australian surgeons offering stature lengthening here. One person I've found is Dr Al Muderis, and I'd like to share all info I've found about him in hopes of us Aussies getting to find out more info about being able to do LL in Australia.
Of course, safety first so I'm still considering more experienced CLL surgeons around the world, but it would be amazing to get to do it in Australia, and Dr Al Muderis is highly experienced in limb reconstruction.
Websites:
almuderis.com.au/stature-lengthening --> specific site for CLL, looks quite legit
https://almuderis.com.au/treatments/treatments-limb-reconstruction/treatments-limb-lengthening/ --> more general limb lengthening site
Pricing:
My friend who had a call with his assistant, Ibraheem, said consultations cost $500 AUD a session, and that you would need to save at least 100k AUD (no specific price).
Would be good to clarify a rough price range in a consult.
CLL/Stature Lengthening Experience:
There's a YT video of him performing CLL on a patient in 2021 - he explicitly says "significantly short stature" as the reason why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Fn67nWCKe0
Over the past year, he's had numerous Facebook videos talking about stature lengthening, and says how a week doesn't go by without doing a deformity correction case, and that this can easily be applied for people with short stature who want to lengthen both legs equally: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1243348643444976
There's an article discussing how he gets more women doing this procedure than men, implying he has done at least a few CLL cases: https://www.mamamia.com.au/leg-lengthening-australia/
He also joined Paley recently and spoke about having plans to bring the Paley Institute to Australia. I am hoping he can learn from Paley in this regard and get more experience with CLL over 2026-2027, making him a more possible candidate: https://www.smh.com.au/national/consumer-pays-consumer-risks-florida-surgery-mill-plans-for-australia-20251001-p5mzbe.html
Insurance/Medicare:
My friend stated that his assistant, Ibraheem mentioned in the call that even though the satisfaction rate is very high, they're honest with the surgery not being 100% a certain success, but if any problems start, we can get them fixed free of charge through Medicare.
I could see this happening as there is another article where he discusses stature lengthening and states how the issue is that people go to inexperienced surgeons (Turkey, India), suffer a major complication, then come back to him and the medical system has to cope cause it falls under the umbrella of being able to be covered by Medicare.
I would definitely clarify the "surgery not being 100% a certain success" in an enquiry/consult with the clinic, as its unclear whether it refers to the usual risk of minor problems or moderate complications with CLL that don't result in long-term issues and still allow for a full recovery, or the actual surgery failing and having to do another surgery or severe complications.
Issues:
I've noticed he had a huge medical negligence/defamation case going on in the news recently which is a bit alarming. Not quite sure what to make of it. This is where getting to see some evidence of him having successful CLL cases would be good...
No public diaries or patient records though as of yet, so that should be considered - I want to make it clear I'm not recommending people go to a doctor that lacks direct evidence of CLL experience - but I'm also hopeful about this being the start of CLL coming to Australia as it would make it significantly more accessible for us all.
If anyone else has anything to share about Dr Al Muderis, or being able to do CLL in Australia, feel free to share!
