Good evening! As you can read from the title I am 174.5 cm and would like to reach 180/182 cm through precise on femur. I am Italian and I was thinking of Becker in Germany or above all Pili in Italy (any other surgeon or surgery advice Is really appreciated!). I am in doubt though if undergo the operation due to my height (Which I do not really like but I rationally understand it is not short either). Is it worth the suffer and the time loss only to add 6 cm to arrive at 180 cm? (I do not want to ruin my proportions doing something natural and not noticeable). And would it be the journey as hard as one can read even for 6 cm? Furthermorr I love sport and I am afraid I could lose all my muscular gains. Thank you all!
In my opinion, if someone is asking whether this surgery is worth it, they shouldn't have it. This surgery isn't done to give people the appearance of Greek gods; it's done for people who can't live their lives as they wish because of their short stature. Based on what you've written, my opinion is that you shouldn't go for it, my friend. At 5'9", you won't feel short anywhere except in Scandinavian countries. If you have any complexes that I couldn't sense from what you wrote, my the answer is that a 6cm femur elongation will pass without problems unless you go to India.

exactly. I always said if you're asking If LL is worth it for you then you shouldn't do it. Now that awareness is higher about LL you have all these people who think it's just a game coming in this community. A few years ago if you found out about and seriously considered LL you were part of a few who felt they were left with no other option. We felt so hopeless we looked for any way out and find the only way. So if you were willing to even consider it, you obviously knew you needed it. LL is the radiation therapy equivalent for height dysphoria. It's the last consideration.
174.5 to 180 with femur Precice is honestly a pretty reasonable goal, and 6 cm on femurs is still within what most people would consider natural-looking if your proportions are already average. You are not starting from a very short height, so this is more about personal satisfaction than need, and only you can decide if that mental benefit is worth the pain, cost, and time.
That said, do not underestimate it just because it is only 6 cm. Even 6 cm is still a serious surgery, still painful, still mentally draining, and still requires a lot of discipline with physio. It is not usually the horror story some people make it sound like, but it is absolutely not easy either. The process can take over your life for months.
On proportions, 6 cm on femurs alone is usually not something that screams “this person had surgery,” especially if done well and you do not already have unusually long legs or a short torso. In many cases it looks normal. Going to 182 is where you should think more carefully. 180 from 174.5 is a clean target. 182 is possible, but every extra cm makes the process harder and pushes soft tissues more.
About sports and muscle loss, yes, you will lose muscle mass during the process. That is almost unavoidable. But muscle can be rebuilt. The bigger concern is not temporary muscle loss, it is whether you recover full mobility, explosiveness, and confidence afterward. A lot depends on surgeon, physio, your pain tolerance, and how your body responds. If sports are a huge part of your identity, you need to be very honest with yourself before doing this.
My honest opinion: if being under 180 bothers you deeply for years and you know this will give you peace, then 6 cm femur Precice can be worth it. If you are just a bit dissatisfied and can still live fine as you are, then the surgery may feel like too much sacrifice for the gain.
So in simple terms:
174.5 to 180 = reasonable and natural target
174.5 to 182 = possible, but think much more carefully
6 cm = still hard, still painful, still life-disrupting
muscle loss = yes, but usually rebuildable
sport performance = can come back, but no guarantee it will feel exactly the same
You won't lose muscular gain via LL. And yeah, 6cm femur is a pretty reasonable goal.
Thank you all guys! I am suffering height dysmorphia for several years but I perfectly understand my height is not that short above all in Italy. The fact is I constantly feel less and not confident with the other s for this thing and I am trying to solve it in therapy without big results so far. The pain I would give to my close ones is reason of further doubts as well. So studying and readying more I would choose Giotikas with g-nail (autonomy is essential to me) staying there for three months for the lengthening phase and then go back home. Someone said although limited upper body side can be trained during the process with full bearing weight nails. I must admit I was more for + 8 cm that I read is the safe limit for femurs with this method (I would not be Sure to undergo this operation only for 6 cm unless side effects had to happen during the process or it was not adviced by the Doctors for safety/proportional reasons). So what do you say? (Gym is an essential part of my life but I am not work with sport)

8cm is safe for femurs and done many times for good results. I would bet even a little above 8 is safe for femurs, but if you dont need it I wouldn't do it.
