I posted a while back adamant that I wanted Guichet to be my surgeon and met with him for an initial consultation at the Princess Grace Hospital in London however if I'm brutally honest with myself I will find it very difficult to come up with the circa £60,000 cost for femur lengthening.
I have decided to change tact and explore the possibility of a Hybrid External Fixator (HEF) which in contrast is 20,000 EUR using Dr Daniele Pili / Dr Maurizio Catagni.
Do these two doctors work as a pair and split the fee equally?
Reading the 'Limb Lengthening Doctors' section of the forum Catagni says
"The patient need to be in the Hospital (S. Camillo Hospital, Milano) for 3 days and after he can go home with instructions or stay in Lecco for 3 months."
However there is no mention of the same arrangement on Pili's page?
I very much like the idea of 3 months Lecco and then fly back to England and provide x-rays whilst consolidation takes place.
Also could anyone explain what single / double osteotomy is please? 0.5-0.75 mm/day vs up to 1.5 mm/day seems like a huge contrast.
I initially wanted 80mm on femur but it looks like 60mm is more likely for external tibia unless anyone thinks something like 75mm would be possible?
Thanks for everyone's help and support!

As far as I know, they keep in contact, but check the Pili diaries to be sure. Pili was trained by Catagni at some point.
And there have been cases of people doing 7cm and over in tibias, but I would recommend against it. 1 extra cm is not worth running the risks. Stay safe. You can't get new legs to replace faulty ones afterwards.
Best of luck to you.
Many thanks dropped him an email re flying back to UK post lengthening
No response from Pili sadly; I'll hold on for a week then try again if still no response

But I really am curious why the ones who have already had a succesfull surgery are still here.
If you were cured of an illness you wouldn't keep reminding yourself of what you went though or at least I wouldn't.
As soon as my recovery is complete I will try and put all this behind me and move forward not back.
Some very nice and interesting people on these forums who give up their time in order to help others which is hugely admirable so it's not that it's a toxic forum by any means I just want to pretend I never had to go through this so most likely won't use forum after recovery.
I do intend to vlog the process on YouTube for people though (I have dyslexia so I would find it hard to write a diary)
NB Pili replied to me; he was on holiday haha
