Ilizarov frames still exist. Just do tibia lengthening and if the pinsite scars bother you, then there are skin lightening creams and scar excision that will help reduce that in addition to the natural hair that grows on your shins.
Betzbone and other Albizzia nails are not reversible, so if you have accidental clicks that continue distraction, you can find yourself in a pretty crummy situation.
Hey KiloKhan,
It is not much about the scars (I have plenty in my legs already), but the time.
I am guessing I can easily wfh for 6 months and travel anywhere to see the doc (lets say 2 months vacation, 1 month medical leave, the rest just work), and then come back to my homeplace and keep on living (I know it will not be full recovery, but at least I will function).
If I were younger and had the money I would do Ilizarov, but time is a big constraint now
Hi, I have a failed fitbone in my RFemur (failed at 5.3 cm due to to broken transducer wire), it is electrically powered (not magnetic like Precice), and it is not reversible as I recall (but I dont think this is a big deal, as you can just slow or stop lengthening for a period if too tissue is tight, rather than reverse).
My local Surgeon is now considering this device to replace Precice2 (due to potential shortages), he wants to implant in me, I am not happy about this as i think fitbone internally is more complex than Precice, and consequently less reliable !.
Only other nail that I can think of to fill the void is potentially the Synoste nail. It was largely forgotten about once Stryde came into action but this could be it's opportunity. Someone could probably dig up where they are up to or if it is still around.

With LATN you only need the frames for 2-3 months.

Yes, if Precice takes really long to come back (hope not) LATN is a good option. But I'd rather wait
