my armspan is like 168 however im pretty sure I have relatively wider shoulders for my height of 165 so I have either average or a little short length arms for my height. I initially was looking at a forearm lengthening of 3cm as it seems to maybe be possible now but for safety reasons I would obviously prefer humerus if it can get intended effect. My question is will it just make me look worse because it would give a really long upper arm but still the same length forearm? Or would it be perceived as just longer arms in general. I notice atleast personally with people under 5'7 or so you can really tell as the forearms usually appear underdeveloped, like out of proportion even as a person with no surgery. My forearm length is about that of someone 168cm so I'm really concerned about this. Theres really no good ending here if I become a regular height but fked up short arms compared to a regular person. the whole goal is to be looked at as at least regular.

Basically I think the 'arm length doesnt matter!' thing is kind of a cope unless your already 5'8+ in wingspan, in which case your arm length is already "normal" so its less hard to notice a discrepancy. I think that arm length and forearm length is categorized more as whether it's in a normal range or not. like if you ask me to tell a 5'8 guy forearm from 5'11 from far away I just can't. but 5'5/5'6 to 5'8 is usually something I think I can tell. And of course really long forearm guys like above 6' is easy to tell too. And I think this segment is probably far more important for the visuals of long arms because it's not covered up by your sleeve, and is closer to the hands which more people will look at. Look at Artem lobov for an example, you can definitely notice he would look better with longer arms, but it seems like the forearm benefits way more from added length than the upper arm.

Also the arm length thing is a major concern primarily for dressing. If you go outside and see, most peoples hands start at the bottom of their shirt or a little after, some not but id say 75% or even more. For me shirts end like halfway down my hand so to make this acceptable I need about 2 inches longer arms (so 5cm each arm which is accomplishable with humerus lengthening)

It would be really nice if humerus lengthening actually worked to give you longer arms in an aesthetically pleasing way, but im not so sure it wont just accentuate the shorter forearm and possibly end up as a net negative. Maybe 1 inch of humerus lengthening is good, but I have a hard time believing that 2 inches wont show up weird.

I know it has done before but I have never seen before and after or even just an after. I remember seeing someone say it didn't throw them out of proportion but I dont trust some randos eyes.

are you for real?

"For me shirts end like halfway down my hand so to make this acceptable I need about 2 inches longer arms (so 5cm each arm which is accomplishable with humerus lengthening)"

Why not just get them altered - instead of breaking your arms?

Or just buy short sleeved tops etc

Bloody hell - pure madness talk

well sure, that makes sense if you assume that is the inherent problem here. The problem isn't some clothing fit, although that is annoying, it's that my proportion is visibly outside of whats normal. Clothing fit is a proxy for normal proportion, so I assume if my clothes are not fitting right, and I am buying clothes for an average person, then my proportion isn't average. I don't want to be 173 or whatever and still have 169 arms like I have now. If im going through all this pain to have a body that I dont think looks stunted and weird then I might aswell do the arms, considering its the easiest lengthening. I dont really think I can size down as my shoulders are relatively wide and fit size M well. Maybe I could do S in some brands for some pieces.

With regard to forearms, I still think it looks much better than lengthening humerus, but upon review I think humeral lengthening looks better than anticipated so hopefully that will get me a relatively normal look even if I only about an inch, would still get me to a better wingspan. Forearm lengthening is just too unsafe and too much of a  scar risk, as well a big safety concern considering I'm only aware of one doctor who will do it, who doesn't seem to have an A tier reputation. Maybe others can do it and report back, but I've yet to see anyone give a real diary or report on how it went.

Yes sure this is pure madness talk but its easy to say when most people dont have to deal with these same concerns and worry do you even look normal going outside. LL is also pure madness talk to most people, doesn't mean the people who want it have the wrong idea.

What the hell are you on about? - there is no comparison between leg-lengthening (which is perfectly safe) and arm-lengthening (which has never been done before, to gain 1 inch for 'aesthetic' purposes).

You have absolutely NO intention of ever doing this - so stop the BS.

Go to a tailor.

I absolutely have intention of doing this beyond anything else, what on earth are you talking about arm lengthening hasn't been done? Im referring to humeral lengthening which is the safest form of lengthening and has been done many times even for cosmetic reasons. For example apotheosis has done it and I have read other examples on here. Dr Paley even offers it on his website, and i'm aware that dr. assayag will do it. In fact i've discussed it with Assayag directly on this forum and with one of his PT team outside of this forum. Maybe you are confusing that with forearm lengthening, which previously hasn't been done before, but dr. salameh now claims to be able to do with the salamehfix device, and some now claim to have done it. But humeral lengthening is a different world from that.

Sure arm lengthening is silly in many cases, and not as much of a gain as leg lengthening, but I think people ignore the importance of arm length especially when your legs are long.

'I have read other examples on here' - that's my point - pure, total BS.

When are you getting it done - 2031 I guess!!?? 🤦‍♂️
