What would you say is the average time it takes to walk without crutches full time for femur patients who have weightbearing nails? I know for someone who does 8cm+ it would probably take longer, but if you do less than 8cm how many months after lengthening would it take?
Average time it takes to walk without crutches for wb nails in femur patients
I'm curious to hear some answer on this too.
I'm on almost 7cm lengthening with G-nail and on the days where I don't have any weird aches I can limp without crutches for just a few metres around the house. But it's not pleasant.
And crutches are starting to be so annoying when you try to go through your normal life tasks (work, house chores, kid...).
I have done 10,80cm and started to pass them away 1,5 months after clicking and 2 months after it started to get normal, so that I was able to do everything without crutches (even wearing smaller bags until 5-8 kg).
I have done femurs, left on February, right on en July. Definitely my left leg was not strong enough at the moment i did the second leg. I was horrible. Impossible to wake up without wanting to die during some weeks. I was taking the stronger amount of Tramadol so i slept for 15h per day. Right now i finished LL for the right one on November. I still cannot walk without crutches. And i dont think I will be able at the end of December. Right now i am hoping to start waking some short distances by beginning February (finger crossed)...
For 8.5cm, and for my body, i think is 10 monthes for each leg to be able to start walking some little distances without crutches... But of course, it must change from one person to another.
Did you opt for non bearing nail? Seems like a long time not being able to walk.
precise 2.2 , non - weight bearing - april 1- dec 1 , I can walk around the house easily .. without support .
Im using Fitbone, one femur after another
Why did you choose Fitbone over Betzbone? Fitbone is non-weight bearing no?
yes Fitbone is non-weight bearing. It was de method used by the doctor in the place i used to live. I didnt ask me twice. Now I may took a little more time to think about which methode use... I see in countries like in Turkey, "precise" is the same price i paid. But ok, its almost done... just need to recover...
Do you have any working program to recover faster? Any advice?
Oh so Fitbone is used by other doctors than Betz? Interesting. Not too much just stretching and eating well. Im doing Betzbone so I will try to walk as much as I can.
