Quote from: Petm on December 15, 2024, 02:12:01 AMThere is a MASSIVE market for weight bearing nails and as much as they want to sell it like it's some unique amazing design....Betz and G-Nail aren't crazy ingenious. They sacrifice safety, accuracy and success features that Precise 2 has in exchange for freeing up internal space for more weight bearing support. There's a reason why those nails aren't offered anywhere else and Giotkis even offers tons of options other than the G-Nail. If Turkish surgeons offered Betz the same $ they pay nuvasive for precise 2, betz would 100% sell it to them. But precise is safer, even the butchers of Turkey recognize that, so nobody buys the betz. As long as it's been around and other surgeons still opt to use the Precise 2.2, says a lot.
thanks for your the answer
Could be, but I think all 3 are good options, I haven read anything going wrong with Betz Nail yet - I just like the fact that you are able full weight bearing - not sure if that is better due to the recovery as well as preventing fat embolism
I mean just some lawsuits, a death here and there but no biggie. If they were that good, they'd be everywhere. No competent limb lengthening surgeon will let you leave while you're lengthening unless if he truly dgaf. Even in India, South Korea, Turkey, South Africa, Greece they all watch you during the lengthening....But betz nah....once that nail is in....all good see ya. β

There haven't been any death cases under Betz especially not under Becker - Betz Nail will be for sure much safer and you wanna go for 6-7 what I saw in your post
Precice is the latest and greatest nail. Do not mistake weight-bearing ability for being a superior nail.
I dont but I think full weight bearing nail is much better for recovery and much better against embolism - I think you will be much faster back to normal with a full weight nail

3 cases of death now reported with G-nail. have you heard of any with Precise?
with betz-nail he sends patients home after a few weeks and if they get PE I dont think it will be even associated with the initial surgery

So what is your expectation? the doctor need to 24 hours 7 days a week to check and be with you in casr your gotta PE...LOL.
Blood thinning medication is given but again no one can promise no PE.
You yourself is responsible to check and report any pain or discomfort.
Do your own measurement such as BP, Blood Oxygen and etc.
If you are really afraid, perform ultrasound scan weekly or simply dont do LL.
If not, go to Turkey livelifetaller and stay with them until lengthening completes.

I'll quote Paley himself here:
"He sought a fully implantable lengthening solution. When the Albizzia femoral nail, developed by Guichet and
Grammont, became available, he worked with the French company that made that nail to develop a tibial
lengthening Albizzia for stature lengthening. He started using the femoral and tibial Albizzia in 1996. The
severe pain experienced by patients from the 15Β° rotation of the thigh through the break in the bone, as well
as several implant failures, lead him to stop using this non-FDA approved device. This device is still being used
in Europe under the name Guichet nail and Betz-Bone. While they have modified this nail to a small extent, it
is still the original Albizzia nail that Dr. Paley abandoned in the 1990βs. There are much better devices now and
the use of this older nail should be abandoned. "
