Hello LLers,

I need your help in making a decision. In a few months I want to undergo tibia lengthening (not femur for reasons I don't want to get into here). I prefer internal tibia. The question is which method?

Two main options are Betzbone and Precise 2.  I don't think either are full weight bearing. I know Precise 2 allows 75 pounds weight bearing per leg. So you would need a walker and crutches to get around. From my understanding of Betzbone it is a little stronger but only allows weight bearing for short distances. ie Bed to loo and back. And would still require either crutches or a walker for greater distances.

For full weight bearing post operation one will need to insert a titanium nail. That would be an extra operation but it would also mean that one should make a faster recovery with full weight bearing.

I need people with experience to weigh in. The pros of Precise 2 is that you don't have to do the painful ratcheting that Betzbone requires (similar to Albizzia). Any thoughts, advice, feedback?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks YSB. I was thinking Paley or Mahboubian.
Who else do you suggest is very good and can do/has experience with Precise 2 for Tibias?
