Quote from: LittleMember on December 28, 2022, 02:32:26 AMI did 8.5 cm... I have still not measured my new heigh but i'm pretty sure i am not 8.5 cm taller.
When the doctor asked me how much i wanted to lengthen, i told him about 8 cm. he told me Ok, so you would be like 7 or 7.5 cm taller...
So yes, you are lengthening in the anatomic direction of your bonds... some people have an axis more prononced than other (like asiatic). And even more, i think once it has consolidated, it will be compressed and it will not be the same length than when it was consolidating.

Quote from: BreaktoGrow on December 27, 2022, 12:06:26 AMHey all

Had Precice 2 done on femurs 9 months ago, so I’m well into consolidation. Maxed out the ERC machine and X-rays also show 8cm gain. What’s bugging me though is that my actual realized gain is about 7.1 cm. I measured myself before the operation several times, so I have lots of data on previous height. I measure myself now with the same exact method as before, standing up straight at possible, end of day, several times/days in a row, and I’m consistently seeing a gain of only 7.1 ish instead of 8…What’s going on?

Is there a possibility that nail retracted during weight bearing?  Did you ask your doc to measure the distraction again after consolidation ?

Always there is about 10% loss of real height gained compared to lengthened height in femurs due to their curved shape.
Nothing unusual.
Only with tibias you gain almost exactly the amount you lengthened.

And no there is no bone compression after the bone is fully consolidated or if you still have a nail inside.
I didn't lose not even 1mm when I removed my fixators after my bones healed fully compared ti when I stoped lengthening with my fixators on.

May I ask you?

Did you do Tibias full external? TSF or Ilizarov frames? For how long have you been with the frames? Is there any risk of infections when you do pure externals and keep it for a long time? How about showering? Could you shower normally?

I really was considering to do pure TSF Tibias external but I heard that the risk of infections is very high and you need to deal with it everyday!! That sounds so crazy, especially when you need to keep the frames on for up to 8-9 months for 5-6 cm.

I really would like you to share your story and experience.

Thank you!
