Hey all,

I was pretty set on waiting for Stryde to return for femur lengthening but now I’m strongly considering either doing Betzbone with Betz or G-nail with Giotikas. I understand that both are weight bearing nails and both use a similar clicking mechanism for lengthening. I’m trying to find more documentation online but can’t find anything that’s more conclusive.

Are there any major differences between the nails? Can one hold more weight than the other? Is clicking with one easier?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks! I guess the decision now really comes down to surgeon, location, and prices.

Quote from: SirStretchAlot on September 29, 2021, 09:18:17 PMI have betzbone in me and clicking was difficult in the beginning. This was also the case for some gnail patients. The key seems to be the rate of bone consolidation. Patients with faster bone/callus growth had significantly harder time clicking.

I'd go with Giotikas and Gnail. Giotikas is cheaper and performs ITB release, which is critical for older patients who don't stretch 2+ hours a day. I've had procedures with them both and they are equally competent. However, Giotikas responds to you timely after surgery, which Betz does not.

Thanks! I read your diary and it seems that ITB release is very important, I reached out to Betz office and they said they would do it for a fee but it seems he really doesn’t want to. The price listed in the site seems to be about the same, considering Betz let’s you stay in the hospital for a max of 14 days? Maybe Giotikas is a bit cheaper overall. Also it seems it’s easier to get around Athens than it does the town the Betz is in?
