Do LON femur patients recover the same way as PRECICE ones?

Assuming lengthening 3 inches with both methods, will the recovery differ between those 2 methods? One thing I know from medical studies is that with LON femur knee ROM decreases significantly and it takes more time to recover but in the end it recovers with the proper physio and rehab.

Other than knee ROM recovery delay, what else is different with the LON method on femur in terms of recovery?

In terms of advantage, it has early weight bearing and potentially early bone union due to that but that's it, no other advantage AFAIK.

I'm not mentioning the risk of deep bone infection with the LON method, it's another topic. I want to have an idea of what to expect with this method in terms of recovery if I do it on femurs.

There's issue with muscle tearing and damage due to pin entrance but 3 months of wearing the device won't damage the soft tissues permanently AFAIK. They will too recover as knee ROM in the end but scar tissue will be left which, IMO, is not life threatening like it is in organs like liver or lungs.

Will scar tissue affect longterm athleticism and recovery? What's the consequences of having these scar tissues? How can we heal scar tissue after LON of 5.5cm femur?

Scar tissue is basically a fibrous tissue that replaces the elastic tissue in the muscles, so the muscle in those parts where the pins pierce through won't be healthy, elastic tissues anymore I guess. I might be wrong in that and it recovers fully, but scar tissue is permanent AFAIK, like that in pulmonary fibrosis, which is incurable.

If that's true, then it doesn't make sense to do LON if one wants to recover their athleticism and overall flexibility.

Yes, you're right. But, if one doesn't have an option to do internal femur and is willing to sacrifice his athleticism to a greater degree, it's another story.

I don't think that it's that bad after 3+ years, otherwise all LON femur patients would complain after many years post surgery.

As you know, my fitness for my age before surgery was way above average... and now is zero.
I am pretty sure I will never recover my fitness, but I assumed that, so I am ok with myself.
I prefer to sacrifice that and to be a tall regular guy...
