This is the question, do LON patients in tibias recover as well as internal tibia patients ? or the damage caused to their legs make permanent disfunction ?

Honestly pure external is the very best way for tibias.(worst method for femurs though)

LON/LATN is better than pure internal for tibias but internal is better for femurs than LON/LATN.

Pure external allows positioning that aren't possible with internal nails like PRECICE. LON/LATN uses external fixtators before and then nail it.
For tibia it's better for external because there are two bones and it won't be uncomfortable to the point where it makes your life impossible to live without help.
Internal gives more freedom and only has 2 surgerys(putting the nail in and removing the nail) while external nailing has 3(external fixator add on,removal of fixtator and screws and adding internal nail, removing internal nail) and has less scars. It's the recommended method for femur because if you are going to do external femur you have to wear braces next to your private parts making it practically impossible to live life comfortably until the surgery is over.

Femur : Internal(PRECICE/STRYDE)
Tibia  : External(Pure/LATN/LON)
