I'm just wondering how long I will have to take off work and untill I can return back home to my family
I don't mind taking a year of work but I don't like the idea of being in a foren country for 9 months. I would like to do a 2.5 inch tibia lenghthening

The surgery takes a few hours, then it's possible to go home. But it's not recommended.
I should stay atleast a month and then if you feel comfortable with the lengthening then you can go home to your country. Make sure you have access to everything necessary if needed.

You should stay close to your surgeon for the duration of the lengthening process in case complications arise. Some will not even agree to do surgery on you unless you can agree to that. Going back home for consolidation isn't an issue though.

Last I checked, Dr. Peng would let you go home after two weeks.  But I say listen to KiloKAHN, it's not advisable to do so.

You can return home after 3 weeks but the best time is at least 1 month hold. I don't recommend 2 weeks that's very shorter and risky time frame. Thanks
