The common sense would say that it helps in some way, but apparently the stretchings in the long run make longer muscles and ligaments too, so in that case makin them for months before the surgery could improve the non damageable lengthening a lot. Just asking.

I haven’t watched the video, but from what I’ve read, stretching doesn’t actually “lengthen” the muscles on a long term basis outside of the stretch itself. Paley even mentions this himself that the loosening of the muscle via stretching only lasts a few hours at most. The main reason why it increases flexibility is due to a neuromuscular response, it does this by increasing your pain threshold which allows deeper stretching and ROM of the muscle. Now this is my opinion, but I think this is why stretching pre-surgery is beneficial. It doesn’t “lengthen” your soft tissues but increases your musculoskeletal pain threshold allowing greater stretching of the muscles without nervous system resistance.
I’m not a kinesiologist though this is just what I’ve learned from basic research and also from stretching routinely.
