He approves of extending a single segment (usually tibias) by a maximum of 7 cm. There seems to be potential for more if the bones regenerate exceptionally well and the tissues allow for further stretching. However, he advises against exceeding 5 cm per segment, stating that any complications would be the patient’s responsibility.

After the surgery, the doctor schedules weekly meetings with the patient during the lengthening phase and monthly meetings during the consolidation phase.
