Quote from: Great321 on March 20, 2019, 09:01:03 PMMy biggest concern is that if any of the pins get infected again and don't heal by themselves I need to take antibiotics.

Antibiotics are my biggest enemy though because that could mean that the clostridium germs "attack" my body again as the good bacteria which normally defends us from the bad bacteria etc. dies from the antibiotics.

So far none of my pins got infected again since I got home. Whenever a pin feels weird I use some form of PVP iodine ointment, recommended by another doctor.

By using strong probiotics after antibiotics i believe you can minimize negative effects of it. I got some allergies because antibiotics but using about 1/2 year Dr Ohhiras probiots (which are expensive, but also seem to be best) i got rid of it.

Thanks for the advice, I used to take "Probielle" and now I try "Mutaflor". It's quite expensive.

My shin was itching a bit but since both of my shin under the knee are numb it feels really unpleasant to scratch over the skin. I really hope that it will change sometime...it's not the whole shin, don't know how to explain it exactly, it's a specific big area

You normally aren't aware of the skin being numb unless it's itching. Let's see how it'll be once I wear normal pants ...

Hey Great321
Awesome dairy and thank you.

As far as payment, you mentioned in euro.  I'm in the US, can you give me the steps on payment like do you pay Mediterraneo hospital or Dr. Giotikas's Athens Bone & Joint Reconstruction Centre (AthensBJR)?

Did you use an escrow company or direct deposit which is kinda risk with all the scam out there nowaday?

On his website it states:
All payments should be concluded prior to your arrival to Greece.  Payments can be made by direct money transfer to bank account. An itinerary will be sent to your email address upon confirmation of payment.

Would you mind emailing me or IM your itinerary, just want to cover all the bases.  I'm planning on doing my LLS with him, but are too scar of being scammed because its a lot of money and I'll have to refinace my house to do it.

Hope you are well and recovering.

Thanks

Thank you, too!

At first I got an e-mail where it stated to transfer the money all to one bank account. I guess Dr. Giotikas would have transfered each amount to the right places for you. But I didn't do it and couldn't reply for a long time as I was travelling. Later then they reminded me again, this time there were three different accounts and the specific amount of money you have to transfer to each account. It's Mediplat, the hospital and Dr. Giotikas.

I did it via a transfer form of as it is too much money for online banking. Now back in Germany I asked them about all the invoices as I want to ask my health insurance for money. athensbjr sent me all the invoices where there are even detailed information about the hospital's medication each day.

What do you mean with scam? I can assure you that you will get the surgery with all the care even after the surgery until you recover.

Update       4,9cm

Today again my lengthening phase is over.
I shortened and lengthened over the last 3-4 weeks as my doctor recommended.

In 2 or 3 weeks I'll have my next X-rays done.

Thank you for posting your diary. I am inclined to go to the same Doctor (although in like 2 years, want to finish Uni).

good luck! you'll have enough time to watch us recover and then make your decision  Dr. Giotikas - external tibia/Stryde - Diary 2018/2019

For about over a week now I feel some pressure in my left fibula when I walk much and put my whole weight on my left leg. Soon I'll have my next X-Rays. I really hope that I won't need another surgery.

For some days I felt an uncomfortable tingling around my upper shins where the cut was made. Like needles. It usually occured when I used the cycling machine for too long. It had stopped when I rested again. This time it even bothered me during lying in bed. Now that sensation is mostly gone again.

For another three days my right knee was hurting due to one of the pins and walking was really difficult. I couldn't fully weight bear on my right leg. But on the fourth day the problem vanished again. Sometimes when that happens in the morning I just have to stand a longer time. And put more and more weight on the hurting knee. Sometime the knee feels normal again afterwards.

For the last few days my legs became very itchy for the whole day. Just like in the very beginning after the surgery. Maybe that's a good sign. As it usually means that sth is healing.

There are two pins that are irritated from time to time causing some pain and oozing but after some time it gets better. So luckily no infection so far.
