New research by Dr Guichet https://online.boneandjoint.org.uk/doi/abs/10.1302/1358-992X.2022.5.042

It talks about discharging patients on the same day as surgery and getting them to walk and exercise soon after waking up. They talk of a specific protocol involving a special protocol for anaesthesia and not taking anticoagulants.

This would significantly reduce the prices of the surgery as well. But is it risky? It would be great if other doctors gave their opinions on this since this is a published paper.

All the credible American doctors keep you in the hospital for four days in order to watch for fat embolism and other complications that may arise shortly after the surgery. A patient, Yush Gupta, died under Dr. Guichet as he was discharged too early.

I keep reading scary stories like this about Guichet. A "fast track protocol" sounds in line with those stories. More $$$ at the expense of desperate patients.

He died from pulmonary embolism, not from fat embolism. And where did you read that he was discharged early and died from fat embolism? Please share the source. If it is that jezebel article please share where exactly in it.

TBH, I am also concerned about staying in the hospital for just 1 day.

Dr Guichet has probably come up with this protocol to operate on patients at the Harley Street Specialist Hospital in London which is exclusively for day care surgeries and hence much cheaper. He also operates at the Princess Grace Hospital in London which is probably way more expensive.

One concerning thing in the paper is that there is no mention of death of any patient.

Tbf Dr. Guichet has operated on probably 10,000+ patients. One death and one set of major complications such as with Unicorn is not to be totally unexpected no matter how tragic they might be.

What is your source for these numbers?

- 10,000+ patients
- Just One death

I did my surgery with Dr. Guichet on March, 2024. Got discharged same day. I did 15 min walk right after surgery and 5 min cycling.

His special protocol is: specialised and personaized physio theraphy. Its been two months, I gained 7.5cm, healthy as ever and bone already fused. I read the gupta story yet I did the surgery with Guichet.

Doctors team recommends you have a care taker 24x7 for the first two weeks, sleep/rest with your leg elevated 40-50cm till lengthening continues and follow the intensive physiotherapy program (stretching, cycling etc). Each stages of recovery are carefully guided like which badnage to buy, apartment reviewing for suitabilty, foods to eat, recipe, everyday follow by doctors team, physio trainers and Dr. is always available on call.

The death maybe related to not following doctors guidaince and or unfortunate events.

In 2.5 months you gained 7cm, the bone fused already and you had no pain (with the barbaric guichetnail)? You forgot to mention the unicorns and the mermaids.
