I would be surprised if the process doesn't play out similar to the release of PRECICE 1&2.

Ellipse Technologies the maker of PRECICE was recently acquired by NuVasive:

Dr. Paley has developed a new surgical technique whereby he also inserts a rod inside the fibula, and not just inside the tibia, when a patient is undergoing tibia lengthening. Thank you to Iamready for bringing this to the forum's attention.

Internal tibia lengthening is inherently much more dangerous than internal femur lengthening. Patients developing subluxation and arthritis of the ankle with the surgical technique of Dr. Betz and Dr. Mahboubian have been covered in the following threads:

Quote from: jbc on December 02, 2016, 05:59:33 AMAs of today, I'm at 8% bodyfat and 156 lbs. If I drop 10 lbs, I'd *theoretically* be able to weight-bear on the Precise 2.2, at least partially (of course, I'd follow Dr. Paley and Dr. Packer's instructions to the letter regarding weight bearing).

The more I think about this, the more bummed I am that the new nail is not out. I'm not going to wait, but it would be really nice to have the functional strength of cobalt chromium with the convenience and reliability of the Precise mechanism.

jbc- I'm confident you already have this information and spoke at length with Dr. Paley, but given your current weight, along with the expected weight loss during lengthening, you should still be able to be fairly mobile with the PRECICE 2.2.
