Confirmation bias or that people think 5'10 guys are actually much taller

My country has basically the same average.

My 6'7 cousin says he can count on one hand the number of times he has seen a man his height or taller, he's 30 years old.

My 6'4 buddy says he is the tallest person in the room 99% of the time, and he lives in the Midwest or Texas depending on time of year.

My 6'1 shrink says he is tall, and that he thinks 8 out of 10 men are shorter than he is, also from the Midwest.

My 6'1-6'2 father in-law says he is the tallest in the room "most of the time" and lives in the Pacific Northwest USA.

Being tall is valued in society because it is a minority.

It doesn't help that virtually every single 5'10-5'11 guy I've known lies and insists they are 6'

You can find government studies of height for most countries that show only young white men's height.

These studies show that the vast majority of white western countries have an average young white male height of 5'9-5'11

It's pretty sad that such a simple thing that you haven't any control on is so important that a lot of people need to lie about it.

And obviously i'm on the bottom of it but like with almost everything in my life.

Agreed. Average here is like 5'11 but when you are 6'3 and above you are medically called Tall Stature(taller than 97% of people your gender and age).

I'm in India...and trust me, 90% of the guys here (middle class and upper middle class) are between 5.7 and 5.9. But those who are 5.10 insist they are 6' and no one disputes them because they're usually the tallest in the room.
One more thing I notice is that almost everyone over estimates their height.
A tinder match recently asked me my height and when I said 5.5, she said, "oh. I'm 5.7, are you still okay with meeting me?". Met her and she turned out to be a good inch or two shorter than me. then she refuses to accept she is not 5.7, but rather tells me that I must be 5.8 or 5.9   hahahaha.

I'm from the tallest area of the USA and I don't feel that short, outside this area I feel quite average.

CC, which is the shortest area in the US?
I actually understand that its not that bad. But the reason I'm still going in for the surgery sometime next year is that...it will definitely expand your dating pool.
If I'm 5.5 and taller/equal to 50% of the women in the US, I can become taller/equal to 75% by doing LL. Thus, I've just expanded my options by half.
And, women are just generally important to me. So doing this procedure is more a "you gotta do what you gotta do" thing rather than a whim or fancy.
