I would not recommend Kurgan but thats just because they do a lot of weird stuff most other doctors dont. Like 2 cuts in the bones and ankle rings. Go to kulesh or solomin or parihar for affordability and good outcome. Birkholtz or gotkias I think thats how its spelled. Search for androids cross lengthening in russia thread. His first post has all the good and affordable doctors. You can get what you need done cheap and safe.  Any doctor will help you because you have a medical need.

Hello, I have yet to contact Dr Solomin, this is his email right? [email protected]. Every ilizarov doctor have said they want to do the surgery for me but most of them want to include my left leg too, that's not a problem for me like my right but the ilizarov scientific centre has been the most helpful and speak/type in English very well. Are they really not any good? Even here in the UK someone in the NHS told me they are good

Update: i tried contacting Dr Solomin but he is out of the office for another week, does he work with someone else? I hear the name Kulesh, does he deal with non cosmetic problems and whats his email please?

Are there any good affordable ilizarov doctors in Germany, I've had something done in Germany before with good results so would be happy to go there again, especially not having to deal with visas

Can someone please direct me to ilizarov specialists in Germany?

I have contacted a couple in Italy, one of them being Maurizio Catagni who told me 15k euros to deal with my right leg, 18k if I do both. Is this not a strange price? Also, why is everyone so eager to put another frame on my left leg like this surgery is not a big deal with 100% success rate and zero complications?

The problem is that the doctors listed here also do cosmetic limb lengthening. Lengthening your legs for stature and aesthetic results. Although a lot of them may very well have a lot more experience than ones who refuse to do lengthening on cosmetic grounds, their practice is considered unethical by a huge chunk of the body of orthopedic surgeons. That's why you're getting offers to do the other leg when you contact the doctors listed here.

If you have a medical need, I'll have to repeat myself: try treatment with the NHS (i.e. locally - I'm guessing you're from the UK). Unicorn has a lot of info on the NHS and limb lengthening in her thread.

If the NHS is not an option, or you're from somewhere else, I'd again consult a local orthopedic surgeon who has worked with limb deformity and reconstruction in the past for orientation.

If all that fails, go get it done in Kurgan. They're certainly more ethical than all doctors listed here, and plus they have to carry the legacy of Dr. Ilizarov's name under their belt. However, they may not use the most modern, best devices in current distraction osteogenesis science, or offer the best possible hospital care.

As for the NHS, they could have done something when I was young but I was made to live with this which has messed everything up and now my left leg has also paid the price with labral tear and more. They didn't even have the decency to tell me about the ilizarov device so i could have gone privately until I found out it myself recently. I will never deal with them again. A private doctor even said I may have hip dysplasia on my right hip but I have never been diagnosed with that by the NHS.

If it was up to me the NHS would be shut down and only available to children or olderly.

Sorry to hear about your experiences. Sad to believe. Would they still be unwilling to treat you today, even with you showing them evidence of the problem you have? They seem to be handling Unicorn well.

You don't need to exclude cosmetic doctors like Solomin just because they also do cosmetic. You generally just need to do a lot of research and try to filter the doctors based on quality of care, expertise, etc. Solomin is a good option. His work in cosmetic is in addition to his main body of work, which is using limb lengthening and fixator devices for limb reconstruction and deformity correction. Just be very wary of those who heavily promote and seem to want to perform cosmetic more than correctional surgeries.

Regarding Kurgan, I'd think they're more prepared for generalized care than any individual doctor. That most likely has its own advantages and cons. The main con is that you may not get as much individual attention and personalized care as under a cosmetic doctor. However, their center's existence (and funding) is based around on using Ilizarov techniques to treat bodily trauma and complex deformities, so they should have all the rest down, I'd hope.

Thanks again. I am no longer interested in the help of the nhs nor their charity or pity towards me. They could have helped me years ago and have cost me 10 years of my life and a lot of money simply by not telling me what I can do about my leg, I have had the money all these years but I had no idea what to do about it which will upset me for a very long time. Now I will have to spend the next several years sorting out many things, hopefully my athletic background as a teenager will somewhat help my body recover and compensate quicker to sudden change

I was hopeful I could get this sorted in germany but i can't seem to find any ilizarov specialists which is strange, only osteotomies

Also, id like to point out that the most important thing is to have equal bone lengths without any disease or complications because the body will deal with soft tissues itself. Having no balance at the foundation is what leads to hundreds of problems and injuries from overcompensation. As long as your bones are equal lengths and you can work out without significant pain everything else will work out
