Fitbone in US question

I recently posted about my surgery and a couple of people said it was rare to see fitbone being used in the U.S.  I was wondering if anyone had any insight on why this is?  Is it inferior to some of the equipment available now?  This was covered by insurance since it was a congenital condition so maybe that's why he used it?  i don't know but any insight would be helpful thank you!

Where did you read that fitbone has the biggest failure rate? I'd like to read that myself

I only had it done to one leg, not bilateral.  If I had both, then I see why fitbone no doubt would be a worse option.
