Former femur patient: I want to do just 3 cm on tibia and I need advice with Dr

Hi guys,

I'm a former femoral patient. I did G-nail and my surgery was sucessful. I had a diary on this forum, but I'd rather not tell who I am. Years after the fact, I must sadly say that my height dysphoria is not totally gone, and I did not fulfill my goals. I certainly should have stretched a bit more.

I have worked on my mind, but I am not able to fully let go of this problem, so I have decided to do a bit extra more on tibias. I just need 3-4 cm tops to forget about this nightmare. Please take into account that this is a very thoughtful decision, so please do not try to change my mind.

Since I am lenghtening a very small amount, I am considering going with full externals. My first options are Dr. Kulesh and Solomin in Russia, as I know a former patient that is happy with them. Do you know if they are still doing CLL?

Other option is Giotikas, but its 27.000 euros with TSF on tibias, and it would be hard for me to pay that amount right now.

Any other recomendations are well received, but I'm certainly not going to one of those Turkey butchers lol.

Not to dissuade you or anything, but I'm curious why you feel like one inch would be enough to make a significant different for you psychologically? You could maybe test out this theory by adding some heel lift insoles? See if you feel any different?

What is your current height? (and what did you start with, if you don't mind me asking?)

This is all purely out of curiosity as a future CLLer, so don't feel like you have to justify anything.

Sorry you say this is a long thought process but have you consulted a psychologist for this question? It would cost you much less than paying tens of thousands of euros to gain 3cm that no one will notice

He will not go only for 3 cm, everybody goes to maximum possible and usually that is 5 cm... which means 2 inches and that is a great improvement.

Yes, Tibiarepeat, just do it, because you feel that you need it and you already know how it is !
But, please, don't do external, because you will hate your life !... Save more money and do Precice !

3-4 cm can be meaningful when you're at a certain height range, like 170 and below...
I did external tibia so I can't compare my experience to precice, but still I wouldn't recommend doing external if you can afford the internal. Even if it takes time.
The tibias lengthening is more complicated and tricky than femurs, you would want to have a process that has minimal discomfort so you can manage the lengthening period, if you have to deal with externals, more complications can occur (infections), the hardship of dealing with the fixator mentally may cause difficulties that would cause you to cut short the process and achieve less than you wanted.
You could also do physiotherapy more easily and it's very important to avoid foot issues.
Of course you won't weight bear so it's a minus.

That's true, but you also have to look at their starting height.  For example, if he was starting at 165, and if he maxed out 8cm femurs, the 4-5cm tibias will be nice.  Imagine you see someone you didn't see for a while, 5'10 will be more noticeable and better compared to 5'8.  Just my thought tho

Did you suffer from knee pain? And who's your surgeon?
