Hi folks,
Normally lungs can filter some blood and fat emboli up to size but if you have Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) then the emboli can travel to your brain without going through the lungs which can cause cerebral embolism and brain death. This will not happen if you don't have ASD so better to get tested for this before the surgery.
One of the deaths caused by this is:

Quote from: two on November 09, 2021, 11:50:50 AMDid you verify this with a doctor? Did Dr Giotikas recommend this? Is it guarnateed that if you don't have ASD, if you get PE or FE you will not get brain damage?
Yes, if you don't have ASD blood, clot won't travel to brain it'll get stuck in the lungs instead. You can check the latest q&a with assyag where he talked about this.
It's easier to detect and treat in lungs than in the brain. If it happens with the lungs then you'll start facing breathing issues and will have some time to call an ambulance or take aspirin quickly while if it's in the brain then you are unconscious immediately and you can't do anything.
