Hi.
I am curious to find out about more about this Vena Cava filter that potentially save people against fatal incidents of PE.
Does anyone have experinces with this kind of filter? Would surgeons agree on inserting one prior surgery?

if youre talking about a pulmonary embolism
risks are pretty low to begin with if you dont have any risk factors for clotting
if you do get a PE they just put you on anticoagulants for 3 months and it will resolve
keep in mind that a filter will come with risks such as
catastrophic bleed
infection
the filter can dislodge and cause a pe in itself
if you have risk factors that would warrant a IVC filter, you probably arnt fit for the surgical procedure
i dont think any surgeon in their right mind would do the filter tbh
