Here is a great video showing the power of Precice Nails  that are able not only to lenghten the bone, but also shorten the bone when non-union occurs. So first the non union is fixed by reverse lenghtening so that bone end match. After the bone is healed, then lengthening can be done again.

Yeah, this is available for femurs, but non union is mostly on tibias, which has a different methabolism.
On tibias, if you have non union, you end up doing grafting most of the time.
