I was considering waiting for the new stryde nails for tibial lengthening, but after researching it seems that using internals for tibias is riskier than it is for femurs because of the way it's inserted through the knee. However, it's undisputed that PT and general quality of life are more difficult with externals, especially if going for longer lengths, like in my case. My goal for tibias is at least 5 cm, so would it be better to take the higher risk of knee arthritis to ensure optimal lengthening and recovery or are externals the way to go?

People are getting 7-8 cm with ilizarov on tibias. They make u wear home made ballerina feet shoes during lengthening.  With precice it's more safer no need to clean pins but chances are it's less growth and expensive.  I'm not too sure about lon but it's more the same as precice but with cleaning of the pins. U don't have a ballerina shoe support to help but there's pt that will help. Search heightincrease info on YouTube. Indian doctor but getting alot out of tibia lengthening. Almost the same as vietnam.

Why you get less growth with Precice?

I’m doing external just because it costs at lot less.
I don’t know why with internals you can walk after 6 months but with externals you can’t. Maybe because the frames are bulky? I’ll see

With ilizarov externals you can walk even during lengthening. Of course you can walk after 6 months, who says you can't ?

for femur it can have gains of 8 cm but with tibia precice its a little less like 6 cm. with external u can go for more but its more painful . but people still do it for tibia lengthening.

I can walk now during lengthening with a walker but it’s difficult. Only some steps every day.
I hope I will walk better even with frames on after finishing lengthening.

People on this forum always say that pure external is the slowest to recover

Ok but why can’t the nail in the tibia reach more than 6 while the external can?

I dunno the magnet is set in stone for precice nails. The rods just dont go out as far. While externals u can lengthening even further.
