So I am pretty much decided on getting LL at Paley institute. I work in the IT industry. I am planning to NOT quit my job and just get the surgery. Then I ask for remote work option from my manager. If my manager refuses to allow me to work remotely from Florida or asks me for a doctor's letter then I just resign. Also if they allow remote work and I am unable to work remotely due to pain and tiredness, again I quit or get fired.
However as per policy I am expected to serve a notice period when I resign, I'm not sure how it would work when I'm away from work in Florida.
I know it's safer to quit my job, but I have a great job and would ideally not want to lose it as much as possible.
What do you guys think?
Is it a stupid idea to NOT quit my job before LL?

I get the point, LL is super important and one must not be distracted while doing it. But as per my plan I am ready to abscond my job if I can't handle it while lengthening.

@Montreal172 hmm is this true? Does anyone know what Paley writes in his medical note after surgery?
My biggest worry is what would happen if I quit my job with a day's notice. Most people serve a notice period, transfer knowledge, say good byes and leave, but in my case I am worried if quitting abruptly without even showing a medical letter as evidence would cause problems down the line.
@Ascending I could get a sabbatical if I told them the true reason and showed a letter which I'm not willing to. They don't give out unconditional sabbaticals where I work. Did you work remotely or did you even to go office while lengthening?

Hello @Gueong yes I'm aware that Debiparshad and Mahboubian let you leave after 2 weeks. I am myself not very comfortable going to work after 2 weeks with 2 broken bones. I don't think anyone would do that even after a more common fracture.
Also I feel Paley institute is the best at LL and would rather just go with the best. They deal with some really messed up cases here and it's reassuring to know that they can fix you no matter what happens. And the letter yes it would be nice if they wrote it like you described it.

A leave of absence requires me to submit some kind of reason and evidence. Do you know what kind of letter Paley writes? Honestly if I just get this done and approach my employer with my surgery letter they would give me the leave of absence because I would be legitimately disabled but I would not want to let them know I had LL. I emailed Paley asking about this and he tersely wrote
"I already sent you all the info on this - bilateral femur lengthening."
I don't think he understood my concern and replied to just one of my 3 questions

That is legit all the info required. Your employer does not
have the right to ask anything about your condition.
But like I said you can always say you have a limb lenght discrepancy.
So when you’re back people are not suprised by your new height.
Maybe gradually wear insoles.
There is this law called FMLA for example which allows a company's HR to ask about the employee's health condition if the employee asks for leave through FMLA. I don't think it's as you describe. I think it's best I talk to a lawyer with my questions though. Still I wanted to know if anyone went through this process here.
