I've seen US doctors do band release for femurs. And they only recommend max 8cm. 6 cm preferred.

But then I see betz patients extend to 9 cm and sometimes even 10 cm. And band release is not done. Betz says do good PT and stretch, it'll be fine.

So yes during lengthening they get wide legs due to tight band muscle. But after lenghening is over, the wide legs return to normal. So a temporary problem.

So really, is band release necessary? I feel like it's not because how else can betz patients reach 9cm to 10cm without it. I think they just do really good stretches and self PT.

Plus would personally feel good knowing I did not weaken the muscle.

What you guys think?

Betz refusing to do an essential IT band release leading to the lady going to America to Rozbruch who did the surgery for her and said there was no way she would've recovered function without the release

As a side note, Paley, Rozbruch, Donghoon Lee, Parihar, all do IT band releases. I trust Betz over these people, he knows better than leaders in the field /sarcasm
