Hi, so sorry it took me long to reply. More  than one factor goes into determining the duration that a person takes to return to his normal life before CLL. The only one qualified to answer that reliably is an orthopedic surgeon, who might ask you to have special bone xrays done in order to give you an idea. Even then, sometimes during the process new things may arise and affect the time needed. One thing I am sure of though, physio therapy plays a very big role in getting one back quickly and efficiently to his normal life before the procedure. Hope that helped!

A final evaluation so you guys can make an informed decision:
1. Surgery: went well, it was done in Dr. Schmidt clinic, very clean and equipped clinic, as a day surgery. Anesthesist is great

2. Accomodation: felt safe being close to Dr. Schmidt, but it is not equipped for LL patients. Difficult to shower, very narrow for wheel chair. Maybe try a small size wheel chair. Not cleaned enough, considering kind of patients and surgery. Bring your own sheets, plenty of sheets to change daily. Or check for monthly rate AirBnb

3. Phisio: Great lady, but she is either overworked or underpaid or both, because the Phisio program was very disappointing. So, better to hire your own physio. As it is an important part of the process.

4. Make provisiin to stay the whole time either in frankfurt or Syria, because the fixators might need adjustments to prevent deformity. At least half way through consolidation.

5. Residents at accomodation are kind and v. Helpful.

 URGENT AND IMPORTANT
after taking the fixators there was a deformity at the front of the right leg, and the knee of the left leg is not parallel to the left foot. The deformity of right leg was apparent on X Ray during lengthening and i told shmidt about it but he laughed it off.
Anyway, after this ,I RECOMMEND SHMIDT / SALAMEH OR SALAMEFIX EXTERNAL FIXATOR FOR CLL with great reservation.Salameh suggested taking fixators on july, i only took them in US last week .salameh is trying to convince me that i took them early, but the xray from lengthening period shows a deformity. And surgeons in the US are not that incompetant as to take external fixators before consolidation. It appears that shmidt is not fully trained by salameh on how to adjust the fixator, this is unethical, because salameh is not in germany the whole time and the patient is the one who pays the price.

Following is a diary for my limb lengthening journey in the hope that it would benefit all those seeking a similar procedure. This is my first time posting on any forum.

Arrived to frankfurt on the 9th, operation was scheduled on the 10th. Dr. Salameh met me at the airport while Dr. Schmidt sent a car to pick us up. I arrived, met Dr. Schmidt and was taken to the accomodation above his clinic. I went up to my room, organized my clothes etc...
If i dont write soon after this post, it means that after submitting this post i did not know how to come back to my post. So pls. Be patient !
I would appreciate any tips about how to return to same topic without starting a new one. Thks

Sorry to hear that. Do you want a new surgery for the deformity.
