Hello, My son is 12 years old and his growth plate in his right arm is shut down. We have consulted with Dr. Rozbruch and Dr. Pailey. Both agree that there is a deformity in his right shoulder and lengthening with an internal device is an option to fix his shoulder and lengthen his arm. We would love to hear from any parents that have taken this journey with their kids.

I don't think you will find any parents here honestly but as someone that was very often in one of the biggest orthopedical centres in my country i can tell u that kids mostly take that surgery very lightly. It's not even near as bad as it is for adults.

I can tell you are a lucky person for a doctor to propose lenghtening. In my country doctor said that arm would not be lenghtened even one is smaller than other. Doctor said that smaller arms does not affect your daily function..i do disagree, but what do i know. To be honest i was really sad to hear this.

My problem was unfortunately 2 arms that for unknown reason stopped growing in puberty.  I had really long arms as a child, but in puberty everything else grew, but arms and hands. After puberty i been having problems with my neck and back. Also my parents did not care about this(they opted for time will make your arns grow explanation), so i was left with option to deal with it when i an strong enough as a adult. So now i am saving money to see an international Ortopedist, because i dont think my country is experienced enough in this area of medical knowledge.

I would go to Dr Rozbruch and he has informed me to be happy to have me for the consultation, but i am outside from US so for me its not a option because of the high cost.
