hey guys

im going to lengthen around 3.5cm - 4cm this summer with dr mitkovic

going for external

his external is obviously not the traditional illzarov... he uses monorails

with that being said... should I opt to lengthen tibias or femur?

personally I want to go for femur... simply because of the faster recovery.

thoughts?

Thanks for the info!  But does Mitkovic offer any other external methods? Isnt his only external method Monorail? Also, since he is greatly experienced in this field, and since im only doing 3.5-4cm..:surely everything should be fine

Quote from: Andy on November 12, 2017, 08:09:14 AMHi, I agree, I don't think that monorail is good for any segment. higher mal-union chances.  For 4 cm lengthening goal, I would definitely go for TSF frames on tibia. Full weight bearing from day 1 after surgery, minimal complications and frames off within 6 months. You could even return to work within one month from surgery.
