Hi, I've always been the shortest guy in high school and college (especially in the south (U.S.) where they grow em BIG). I felt sad and knew it was largely due to my Mexican mother's genes (but I look like Casper. I seem to have not gained any benefits from her genes except looking really young + taking heat well!!). I got interested in LL after seeing a 20/20 interview with Apotheosis. I went to the old forums and read several diaries and brushed up on LL for the last couple of weeks. I don't have much money and don't have a stable income (I have just started a publishing business and have several projects about to launch, so hopefully that changes). I was excited to see a lot of good news about the cheap Dr. Sringari and excellent diaries of him on old forum . It was the only doctor in my hopeful price range that seemed competent. I thought maybe I could make my LL dream a reality in 1 year of saving up.
But then I discovered that one diary was obviously from someone who wasn't a patient of Dr. Sringari and the administrator there tried brushing it under the rug. I then found out that posts and parts of whole conversations were being deleted. I won't go into more detail about that and think most know what I mean. I think Apotheosis had good intentions at some point, and maybe in his mind he still does, but it was just not reliable enough for me there. I know he probably reads everything, so, @Apo, I feel bad for you and sincerely wish you well with life. Tho you might make many resent you, many also became aware of LL because of you and you will always be a role model for LL. Don't forget that and just know many of us admire you for some things you've done, but just not everything. There is always time for you to change.
Anyway, I don't know what doctor to turn to now and will have to continue researching. Suggestions are welcome.
My goal: 6-7 CM (to be average height). Price, mobility, time, scars = my 4 main factors under consideration. Pain isn't a factor - I had my chest plate cracked open like a walnut, all the cartilage cut from my ribs, and a long metal bar sitting in my chest for 12 months (Ravitch Procedure). There's a 4 inch keloid scar as reminder.
Age: 24
Height: 172 cm
Wingspan: 183 CM (my arms/chest are very strong. That + my young face and good posture is what keeps most people from registering just how short I am. It also makes my height somewhat bearable and I don't mind waiting another few years for LL).
Weight: 155 lb
Also, do internal devices damage the bone more? I would think that drilling a hole through the bone marrow = longer bone recovery?
And does anyone have shoe inserts or lifts they can recommend? Comfortable ones - looking at 1 inch max. Getting involved in business settings is really making me self-conscious about my height....
Thanks!
Hey man,
I'm from the south too. SOUTH SIIIIIDEEE.
yeah, looks like India isn't a good idea anymore. I used to think about going there too, but not anymore .research China/South Africa/ Russia.
The marrow is gone in the tibiae and femurs by the time you're an adult, replaced with fatty tissue. So that's not an issue with internals.
Unfortunately, money is a top factor.
For me, I'm considering precice and so my choices would be Dr Franz, Dr Donghoon, Dr Paley in that order. If I choose Dr Paley, I might have to wait for 2 more years to save.
Do research in this forum and I'm sure you'll be guided once you decide.
All the best.
cheap and safe doctor is salameh but you will have to wear the frames for about 12moth
I think its really sad that people think being short is a death sentence. Being short is not a disease...its not a disability. And there isn't nothing wrong with being short. Being short doesn't mean you are ugly..or less than. Its all heightism. All of us including myself are victims of heightism.
