Hey everyone, finally getting around to posting my full experience here. I actually meant to update more during my journey, but honestly with the surgery, the rehab, and still working remotely from my laptop, time really flew by and I totally forgot to check in here earlier. Things move fast once you’re in it.
So Im from LA. I started at 173 cm and now Im standing at 181 cm after Precice femur lengthening with Dr. Fatih. I originally planned to stop at 7 cm but when I saw that I wasn’t getting too stiff around 6 cm, I decided to push for the full 8 cm and I’m glad I did. Today its been 4 months. I am back in LA now and recovering well.
I stayed at Seba Suites in Kagithane during my stay, which I can definitely recommend it was very comfortable and super convenient for getting to therapy sessions. Huge shoutout to my physical therapist, Suna she was incredibly helpful, especially when things got tough later in the process.
Pain-wise: I won’t sugarcoat it the first 3 cm were pretty smooth. I did have some pain at night before sleeping, but nothing unmanageable. After 3 cm, though, I started to get more intense pain attacks, mostly before bedtime. I managed with paracetamol, Rantudil, Geralgin-K, and Contramal Retard.
Around 5 cm was probably the hardest part for me. My side muscles tightened up so badly that I started walking like a penguin kind of funny looking back, but pretty frustrating at the time. Regular therapy and stretches with Suna helped a lot, but the sharp pains were still difficult. Contramal wasn’t cutting it, so after checking in with Dr. Fatih, he prescribed Oxopane 10 mg and that worked like magic. Made a huge difference in my ability to rest and keep up with the rehab.
I also had some digestion problems along the way, most likely from the medications and reduced activity. Took care of that with Duphalac and it was fine after a while.
Even during lengthening, I tried to keep life somewhat normal. Went to the barber a couple of times at Seba Suites, rolled out to nearby shopping malls in a wheelchair just to get out of the apartment those little trips made a big difference mentally.
At this stage, I can walk indoors with a walker and practice daily. Im only using a wheelchair outdoors for safety there’s always a risk of falling or nail break, so I don’t take chances. I’ve slowly come off all pain meds now, just taking creatine and vitamin D supplements.
Looking back, I feel very lucky I chose Lengthening Turkey for my surgery. The whole team was professional and supportive from start to finish. You hear so many nightmare stories out there, but my experience was smooth and well-managed thanks to them.
If anyone is considering it; yes, it takes mental strength, and there are painful days. But if you stay focused, do your rehab, and have a good team (and PT) behind you, it is 100% doable.
Thanks again to Dr. Fatih, Suna, and everyone at Lengthening Turkey. I couldn’t be happier with my results.
