My condition：
I am a healthy Asian male with a height of 168cm and a weight of 60kg before surgery. I have a habit of running regularly.
The preemptive femur surgery was completed on July 3, 2024.
So far in the past month, we have completed an extension of approximately 2.6cm.
Regarding pain:
Except for the pain during the initial stage of surgery, most of the pain is controlled between 2-4. It is worth mentioning that I currently feel persistent soreness in my thighs, which is not of a very high level, about 2-3. But still can greatly affect my sleep. At present, my nighttime sleep may be 2-3 times of 2-hour sleep, and I may doze off during the daytime.
Regarding PT:
The overall PT should be at an average level. Can independently complete 4-5 times 30-40 minute PT per day. The muscles in the front of the thigh have good strength and can complete up to 30 leg lifts. Side and back leg lifts are weaker, and the screw part may feel pain when applying force, but the condition is getting better and better.
My psychological state：
It must be said that this surgery is far more difficult than imagined. Especially considering that this is only the first month and I still need to spend 5 months in a wheelchair, it's even more frustrating. If I had known so many specific difficulties in advance, perhaps I would have retreated? But no matter what, this journey has already begun, and perseverance is my only choice.
Question that needs veteran help：
Q1： I always think of the days when I could run freely. My initial goal was set at 6cm. For my athletic ability and the ability to stand faster, would setting it at 5 or 5.5 be a better choice? I have seen many LLer around 5.5 recover very well.
Q2： I am a foreign LLer, and the loneliness of being alone abroad is unbearable (unable to adapt to foreign food, narrow apartments). At first, I wanted to spend six months abroad, but it was really difficult. If I return to my home country after completing the extension (2 months later) and do PT at home during the consolidation period, will it have a significant negative impact on my recovery?
