Are external tibias much more painful than internal fémures or is about the same?

I doubt many people have done both of those and could give advice.  Both are gonna be painful.  I can only vouch for internal femur, it’s painful as hell at the beginning and end.  The first 2 weeks are torture, the following 2 weeks are a struggle, and then it’s not so bad.  Almost everyone is pretty relaxed by week 4.  I saw patients with internal tibias and they seemed to be in a lot more pain than the femur patients, but that’s very anecdotal and they were internal tibias.

Either way this will be one of the most painful things you’ll do in your life. It’s not so much how painful it is at any minute but the fact that the pain may last over 100 days.
