Just wrapped up a 7cm distraction. If anyone has experience with timelines for consolidation (Walker stage/crutches stage/full weight bearing stage) I’d be very interested in hearing it!

Thanks!

Assuming you did femurs it should take 6-8 weeks before you are walking without assistance. I was on a walker for the whole consolidate stage. At 4 or 5 weeks one leg was healed and the other was almost healed, so I switched to one crutch in the opposite hand. I was cleared for full weight bearing at 6 or 7 weeks. I walked with a slight limp for a couple weeks after being cleared. My walking was mostly normal by 10 weeks post lengthening.

Thank you, since I’m 1 cm more I’ll just add an extra two weeks and hope I can hit the mark.

Please tell us if you lengthened femurs or tibias. I am assuming you lengthened femurs.

For femurs, about 1 month in consolidation for every 1 month you lengthened to reach full weight bearing and independent stage. So if you lengthened for 3 months on femurs, estimate 3 months into consolidation when you reach that stage.

For tibias, I read that it is 1.5 to 2.0 months in consolidation for every 1 month you lengthened to reach full weight bearing and independent stage. I'm not a tibia lengthener, but that's what I read and it seems accurate, according to tibia lengthener's diaries.

Alright so with a 77 Day Distraction assume around a 77 Day Consolidation. My right leg feels great tbh. Left leg still feels like I’m rocking a broken bone, so I might just take it easy on it for a while. Seems like I’m aggravating  the pain when i Walker around on it. And yes femurs, thank you for the info!
