Hi all. I plan to get my femurs done using internal method (gnail or precice). My question is when should scar care start? Is it advisable to do it as soon as the operation scars are "ready" for it or is it pointless to treat the scars until rod removal is done?
I know a lot of people here dont care about scar appearance but I do. so please respect it. Thanks.
In my opinion the only thing that will actually produce a significant difference is excision, which can be done as early as when there won't be any more injuries to that skin. Don't waste your money on bogus creams.

thanks. based on previous experiences i easily develop keloidal scars so i am expecting to have the same once i undergo LL surgery. does excision work on keloid scars? is there a chance for a keloid to develop again once the original scar has been excised?
I would say minimizing exposure to sun is very important from day one. I didn’t do this very well and the scars near my knee are still dark red/brown while the scars further up my leg are almost faded in color. However, since I just got my nails removed everything was opened up again so I have another chance at scar care and this time I’m definitely hiding from the sun. I might go see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon if my scars are still bad in a few months from now.

ty!! What kind of doctor would you go to for this and how much would it cost roughly in the USA?
A plastic surgeon, especially a burn specialist.
Many thousands of dollars. 
Scars can be treated with laser.

1. As early as there won't be injuries to the skin -> so like after we get the gnail or precise nail removed entirely?
2. Is it still worth it for gnail scars or precise scars to have the scars excised/does it make a noticeable difference?
