Summary

This South African girl had fibular hemimelia which required limb lengthening and deformity correction. Despite living in South Africa and having consulted with several doctors in South Africa she was advised amputation. She then flew all the way to Florida and got treated under Dr. Paley after raising money for the procedure.

QuoteDr Paley who runs The Paley institute is the only hospital who is able to help her walk again. Unfortunately the operations can only be performed in Florida USA and will  cost +- $200 000

It is clear how rare a specialty limb lengthening and deformity correction is even if you live in a country like South Africa.
