It is well known that if you follow any of the non weight bearing methods (eg precice and also the original ilizarov if I am correct) muscle atrophy will occur as would be expected
I am not sure if this happens with TSF and Stryde also, since you would not be walking all the time
How come then no doctor prescribes testosterone to maintain muscle mass? If it works for people with cancer who suffer serious muscle wasting, I d expect it would work for us as well.
There are 2 theories I have:
1. They are afraid of side effects, but I thibk this is bull, if professional BBers can get away injecting grams every week, then under the supervision of an andrologist and for limited time use (eg till 1 year post op) it should be safe
2. Perhaps it seriously accelerates bone growth. But this also doesn't make sense cause then it would be panacea for non unions
In general, I can only see benefit by using testosterone for LL yet never have I read a diary where the doctor recommended it
What do you guys think?
Quote from: fivetenneeded2016 on November 01, 2020, 02:47:39 PMI was suggested to use nandrolone during my consolidation by Dr Pili. Even Catagni suggests it. I injection per week then 1 per 2 weeks later on. I would say it did help although my consolidation was anyway decent- better than my batchmates. I was 16 months in frames for 9+cm.
Wow, you actually lengthened tibias 9cm
Quote from: Medium Drink Of Water on November 01, 2020, 04:06:45 PMIlizarov is weight bearing. Anyway, the reason why they don't do it is because you can exercise your muscles without weight bearing, and even if you don't do that during LL the muscle wasting is very mild. No need for treatment.
But if you have a big caloric deficit (you are supposed to eat 6000 calories afaik which I'd assume most people can't do) probably big part of the weight you will start losing will be muscle, no?
What about femurs? Can you also exercise femurs without weight bearing?
Thank you MDOW!
