I can only speak for Betzinstitute and Paleyinstitute. For femur they don‘t use one (under general anesthesia). For tibia Betzinstitute uses one (you will get it out before you wake up they told me). I must say 3 1/2 h under anesthesia without any catheter made my bladder hurt really bad. Like really really bad until I finally could pee (you can‘t for the first few hours because of the strong opioids used in the operating room, feels like you urgently want to get it out but are physically unable to, really uncomfortable). In hindsight I still was glad I didn‘t have one but I couldn‘t imagine being under even longer.

Paley as far as I remember told me with general I won‘t have one (and I was talking about quadri back then when I had my consult with them)
