A simple question would be to compare the pain levels of having 8cm of femurs lengthened vs 5cm of femurs and 3cm of tibia lengthened.
On one end, the femurs are being extended much higher than the second but one two bones are broken. So my question is how do I get 8cm with the least amount of risk and pain?

In my opinion pain doesnt matter that much. If there is too much pain you can always slow down. If you have a slow but steady pace (Im thinking 0.3mm/day), then premature union is out of the question. The future day in which you achieve sufficient consolidation is pretty much a constant, the clock starts ticking on the day of the surgery. Have a mercy on yourself and do an internal rod.
If my math is correct I would need 8 months to get 8cm with precice?
