Almost no risk of misalignment with TSF external.

But the risk for misalignment is huge. I had a significant misalignment in my right foot that I fixed with a titanium plate 5 years after I finished LL. My left leg has also a slight misalignment but nothing important.
Generally speaking, tibia LL with monorails only is relatively rare and if you end up without a misalignment you will be vert lucky. That said, it is by far the easiest way to do LL and has the less invasive surgery out of any other way as it needs even less drills than Ilizarov and of course nothing inside your bone.
But thats not LON as the title of the topic said. It is externals only with monorails.
I see. This is what I was worried about. Could inserting a IM nail after completing lengthening (when removing the external fixators) eliminate that misalignment?
Anyone else had an experience with this? Kinda has me worried.

Also, did you have tibia LL with monorails and you had no IM nail at all? Even after removal of fixators? So you had to have monorails on until your bone consolidated?
Or do you put an IM nail inside after completing lengthening.

A friend of mine got that done and had a misalignment. Better to use the ring fixators.

Did he insert an IM nail after completing lengthening? Or just have the monorail on until he fully consolidated?
I'm not sure. I lost touch with him before he was done.
