Everyone has a fear of being alone, but how can you fear this when you just got out of a long term relationship? You just proved that you're capable to getting someone to date you. Not all women need to date tall men. If that were the case, then the shorter half of the world's men would all be single.

You're wrong about this. Height matters in Asia as well. Bosses in China are usually taller. Asian women still prefer taller men, because they want their kids to be tall. It's just easier for a Western man to get dates in Asia for 4 reasons:
1) They assume you have money
2) They assume that you will treat them better, because men in Asia tend to want their wives obedient
3) The average Asian man is shorter than the average Western man
4) They grew up watching western men in movies

More to think about.  True about China, where even the women are doing LL.  But isn't it banned there ?  Possibly thinking of Philippines.

Yea, it's illegal in China to get LL. But it doesn't stop back alley surgeries from happening.

Thanks for responding.   I read your blog. I'm 168 cm and wish to gain 7 or so cm.  Sounds like you did good.  Being freshly divorced , I could use a bump.   You would do it over ?

It's not illegal in a few select hospitals that are licensed to do it.  Dr. Peng at Rehabilitation Hospital is legit.

Hi spyratoss

I am not an consultant or psychologist to ask you why you want to do ll or whether you need to do it or not.  I can only tell that age of 40s is not the end of ll.  As other people mentioned, people at 50s also did ll.  I also read a diary from a guy who actually did the second ll at 50s while the first one was done at 40s.  Of course, as you can imagine, the recovery will be a little slower but the complication is all case by case.  Most of time, at your age, more concern is time and job, as you already mentioned.  As long as you can afford your money and time and manage your job or career, you can go for it.  It is your life.  You have the right to choose and to be happy!
Cheers,

I don't regret it but I would not do it over again.
Meaning: if time would switch back 2,5 years, and I was 45 again and 173cm, I would not do LL.

It's all psychological, it's all in your head. There are better ways to become happy and content with your life than doing LL.

For some people LL might be great and change their life but the vast majority either has nasty complications or realizes that a few inches more might make them taller but not necessarily happier.

Thanks for that perspective.  Ive also suffered some past sports injuries so who knows how capable my recovery would be.   You have me pause for thought. 80k buys a lot of vacations.  But my recent, sudden single status and age has made me worried.  Even dating some single mothers has been exasperating
It's not the only reason, though, I get that .
