im a girl 165cm and im planning surgery soon so i relate to this a lot

i always felt small around my tall friends since highschool not because they were mean but because i always noticed it in photos and in groups and it stayed in my head for years

about wingspan i kind of agree with you most normal people dont analyze it they only notice if they already know about limb lengthening or if they are the type to nitpick everything

for me the height part is the main point i want to feel better when i stand next to people and when i see myself in pictures im not trying to be mathematically perfect

i will still be smart about it though i care more about looking natural in clothes and keeping my movement and comfort good than chasing the maximum number possible

so yeah i understand the concern but i think if someone is already committed to doing this they should pick a goal that truly makes them happy and not let online comments control the decision

Quote from: lost on December 10, 2025, 09:56:48 PMMaybe I'm being naive or stubborn, but I honestly don’t worry much about proportions. I’ve thought about it before, but I never really paid attention to anyone’s wingspan until I learned about limb lengthening. A lot of people who are already familiar with LL claim they can “tell” when someone’s proportions are off, but they almost always say that after finding out the person had the procedure like with TikTokers who openly talk about it.

If you showed an average person someone who has no idea what LL even i —a picture of someone with shorter wingspan relative to their height, they wouldn’t notice anything. Most people don’t know LL exists, let alone think about proportion details like wingspan.

From my perspective, if someone is very short (say 5'2"–5'6") and decides to go with the maximum of inches 8.78 inches which you can get from betz, their quality of life will genuinely improve much more than just getting something "relative" to there wingspan. And even if someone also has the money for arm lengthening to match wingspan, I’m not convinced it’s necessary. Sure, every once in a while someone might comment that your arms look a bit short for your height if you end up getting 8 inches, maybe during sports or while shopping with someone new but you could just brush it off with some excuses like "I have scoliosis thats why my torso and arms are smaller". Most people wouldn’t think twice about it.

Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe it’s just because im a all or nothing type of guy, but if someone is already willing to spend that kind of money, time, pain, and dedication, I think they should choose the most inches they can get out of it. Worrying about the judgment of one or two people or random commenters online you see on someones post who got LL doesn’t seem meaningful. Most of us wouldn’t even notice wingspan differences if we weren’t purposely looking for them.

That’s just my personal outlook: if someone is already committed to the surgery, they should make the choice that makes them happiest, rather than stressing about a detail most people will never notice.

unless you have amazing proportion for LL your not getting 8.5 inches and looking normal. 6 inches is pushing it. Yes height is worth it over proportion but only the point until which proportion is freakish. most will probably look freakish at 8.5. I also think betz/becker is kind of insane with what he allows and don't really trust him. I saw 10cm or something ridiculous in tibias from him, that's just insane. the highest I hear of being safely done in one go is 7cm. for 8cm I see Paley recommending a rebreak. Im sure betz has some good results but there has to be a catch here.

I think wingspan is really underrated as a proportion thing, most say it pretty much doesn't matter at all but I disagree. it can really help with a short torso to have a longer wingspan. sure if your within like 2 or 3 inches probably forget about it, but otherwise I'd consider it.

"f you showed an average person someone who has no idea what LL even i —a picture of someone with shorter wingspan relative to their height, they wouldn’t notice anything. Most people don’t know LL exists, let alone think about proportion details like wingspan."

Sure maybe up to like 4-5 inches but if we're talking 7 or 8 inches or even more for someone lengthening 8.5 inches, yeah they'll notice. im almost sure, do you have an example of one of these people?

Sure, I agree most people who say they can 'tell' LL proportions are full of  , especially random social media commenters. But the average LL is like 3 inches, not 8.5 inches, which is essentially three times that.
